SMP Warning - Privacy Violation In Progress

PROBLEM

Many people have logged onto the internet one day and found that instead of their regular home page, they have had an error page displayed. The text of the error resembles:

Privacy Violation In Progress... (375 SMP Warning)

75439-MS06-005 system warning: your internet activities are being recorded...

Your PC keeps records of all your online and off-line activities. Websites that you viewed, e-mails that you sent and anything else if you or someone else have ever done with your computer can be found out. You need a special software to resolve this problem, click here now

WHAT'S HAPPENED?

Recently you have visited a website which has asked you to 'Confirm you are over 18'. By clicking Yes on the dialog box you have actually changed your homepage to http://64.62.228.94/privacySMP.asp

This page was 'apparently' made to show you how dangerous the internet is (Actually it's phishing and pretending that you need to download their software!). No software has been installed on your computer and no details have been sent to your Internet Service Provider. All of the information on the page is accessible using a simple internet script. However! This bit is a lie... "These words have been found in your system records:".

SOLUTION

Simply change your homepage back to your favourite site. In Microsoft Internet Explorer, use the Tools Menu and click on Internet Options. The top option is your homepage. Delete the existing address in the box and enter your favourite web site. Make sure you click 'OK' when you close the Options Box.

For more information go to the SMP Website. http://64.62.228.94/faq.html.
